Eliminating the Target

He'd been on this case for almost a month - the longest he'd ever taken to catch a target. But finally, the serial murderer nicknamed "Bloody Mary" would be brought to justice. He sneaked down the dim alleyway. Presuming his deductions were correct (and it had been a long time since they weren't), she would be leaving the building within minutes.

He took his place by the wall, letting the shadows conceal him. Years of harsh training ensured his silence. He kept his gaze trained on the door, but let his other senses scan the area for movement. There was none save the scavenging of a mouse. Minutes passed. The silence deepened. Had he been wrong? No. Everything had added up, this was the place. So where was she?

The door swung open. A figure, tall but a bit hunchbacked, strode out. He could make out no details save one: the eyes. Wide, bloodshot, glinting in the half-light, they almost made him shiver. Bloody Mary...
