Lost Souls
Used to be, they were the lost ones. Used to be, they were ones you'd pity.
Not anymore.
Now they crawl around at night.
Now they shy away from light.
What have we here, these wretched beings
Who wander the hallways with horrible screams?
Tearing at flesh and shadow and stone,
Wearing their teeth on sun-whitened bones,
They've lost their minds, their sanity
Lost even the wish of ever being free.
And now these maddened souls, they reach
For the only thing they'll ever see:
The hand of a child, a beating heart
Their lips a'grinning, eyes glowing in the dark.
So don't look now, you might die of fright
But you might not want to turn off the lights
I think I saw one just under your bed
Or perhaps it's already inside your head.
